Responsible Gambling Awareness Week Singapore

Responsible Gaming Education Week (RGEW), held annually during the first full week of August, was created by the American Gaming Association (AGA) in 1998 to increase awareness of problem gambling among gaming industry employees and customers and to promote responsible gaming nationwide. The AGA and the entire gaming industry realize that education is essential to promoting responsible play and increasing awareness of gambling disorders, and RGEW provides organizations with an opportunity to expand on work they do every day educating employees and patrons about the issue. The NCRG joins with the AGA on this project to help provide the most up-to-date information and research about problem gambling and responsible gaming.

Every year during the first week of October, we mark Responsible Gambling Awareness Week with a series of activities across the province. The week highlights the work we do all year long to help you understand the odds of winning and losing, as well as understanding the games you play.

15th Annual RGEW: 'All In for Responsible Gaming'

July 30 - August 3

The 2012 RGEW includes the theme “All In for Responsible Gaming.” As an extension of the AGA’s 2012 “All In” campaign highlighting the gaming industry’s corporate social responsibility efforts, this theme focuses on the fact that responsible gaming is not just a casino issue, but a community issue – and gaming employees are often the industry’s best ambassadors among the community at-large.

In conjunction with RGEW, the AGA and NCRG are working together to release a new research-based guidebook for human resources and employee assistance professionals that answers frequently asked questions about gambling disorders and responsible gaming and serves as a useful resource for employees looking for more information. The new publication also is being made available to human resources professionals across the country. The new resource is available for download at www.ncrg.org/gamblingandhealth.

14th Annual RGEW: “Know the Odds”

Responsible Gambling Course

August 1 – 5, 2011

This year’s RGEW will focus on the theme “Know the Odds” and will build off of last year’s successful effort to “take the mystery out of the slot machine” by focusing on educating employees and patrons about the odds of all of the games available in a casino. Understanding the odds of casino games is a key component of responsible gaming, and helping gaming employees and patrons learn more about the odds of the games is a crucial part of helping them know what it means to keep it fun by gambling responsibly.

The AGA brochure, “The House Advantage: A Guide to Understanding the Odds,” will be the main source for the information distributed during RGEW. The resource will be widely distributed at casinos nationwide during RGEW and will be available at many properties year-round as part of casinos’ standard responsible gaming resources. The AGA and the NCRG will also develop new materials to help employees, patrons and the public understand the odds, such as posters, quizzes, and other educational material.

13th Annual RGEW: “Taking the Mystery Out of the Slot Machine”

Responsible Gambling Training

The 13th annual Responsible Gaming Education Week (RGEW) was held August 2-6, 2010 and focused on educating employees and the public about how slot machines and other casino games work because understanding the odds of casino games is a key component of responsible gaming.

In conjunction with RGEW 2010, the American Gaming Association (AGA) released a new brochure,

  • 'Taking the Mystery Out of the Machine: A Guide to Understanding Slot Machines'

that provides gaming employees and patrons with digestible information about how slots are operated, developed and regulated. The resource will be widely distributed at casinos nationwide during RGEW and will be available at many properties year-round as part of casinos’ standard responsible gaming resources. The brochure can be downloaded from the AGA website at www.americangaming.org.
